We woke pretty early again the next morning. We weren’t entirely sure what we were going to do but we had heard of a really cool waterfall. I ended up waking up with a stomach ache and threw up in the bathroom at the hostel. But after that I was ready to go. We got the directions on how to actually drive into the national park and then we hit the road. Once we got there we realized we had to pay R50 per person to get in the park. Luckily, we all had enough cash and we decided it would be worth it to see the cool waterfall. Boy, were we not disappointed. The view from the parking lot alone was worth the $7! It was gorgeous being next to the ocean with the waves crashing into the rocks and the forest behind us. We ended up hiking the Otter Trail. The full trail is like 5 days to complete but we only did enough to get us to the waterfall. It was still really tough. We had to climb over these crazy rocks. It was definitely the most “hiking” I have ever done. The only other place I have been that could be even remotely close to real hiking is Ledges and let me tell you…that is a walk in the park compared to this place. I don’t think any of us were expecting it to be quite that rigorous. The views were worth it though and the weather was nice. We reached the waterfall in about an hour. Shawn was brave and jumped in the water. He also climbed the rocks and jumped in from where the waterfall was. I wasn’t feeling quite as adventurous so I just sat on the rocks and watched! We didn’t end up staying that long at the waterfall before we did the hike all over again. This time was easier though because we actually followed the trail J On our way back we saw a little deer-type animal and got within a few feet of it. It was really cool. Once we got back we decided to hit the trail again on our way back to PE. We stopped near Jeffery’s Bay to get some food and then again near Seaview to get some petrol. The gas stations here (like everything!) are quite the experience. We got back and I sat and read for a while and Shawn went to the Pick-n-Pay to get some food and use the internet. After that we pretty much crashed because school started the next day!
